Rep. Neugebauer (TX) on Obamacareand the Farm Bill

Open Email to Rep. Neugebauer (TX):

Dear Rep. Neugebauer,
    I have read your Newsletter

OBAMACARE    Congratulations on your opposition to Obamacare, but that fight has been temporarily lost. With the supposed government shutdown, Obamacare is in operation and apparently fully funded by 159 different agencies, at least some of which seem to be exempt from funding by government shutdown. You may want to come back and address the Obamacare situation at a later date, but for now I suggest we get on with other major aspect of our program, which is to reduce government spending.
The supposed government shutdown contains many key exceptions, which lead to the question of whether it is really a government shutdown. However, there is an opportunity for the House to start proposing to the Senate and President the refunding of various agencies, which appear to be shutdown. In other words, the House can make individual proposals on funding government segments, and avoid proposals for funding agencies which are either not needed or have actually done harm to our economy and society. Examples for avoiding funding are the Department of Education and the Department of Energy.

FARM BILL

You said this weekend, the House voted to recombine the farm and nutrition bills that make up the Farm Bill. That was a necessary step that moves us towards conferencing a bill with the Senate.
Bad move! First of all, the House has made an immediate declaration of surrender to the Democrats of the Senate. Secondly, as I have said before, there is no logical justification to include a nutrition program in a farm bill. A farm bill should involve only farmers and their customers. Nutrition subsistence does not involve farming. It involves welfare, and should be put in the welfare category.
You did not say how you voted on this recombination of farm and nutrition. I hope it was in the negative.
