Randy's Newsletter

Open email to Representative Randy Neugebauer concerning his recent newsletter:

Randy,

Referring to your recent newsletter:

ABORTION

Congress could pass a law defining abortion as murder. If the President vetoes it, Congress could override it.

Alternatively, Congress could take no action, with the implication that abortion is the will of the people.

GUN CONTROL

Congress could pass a law reaffirming that the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights should not be infringed. This means everyone has a right to carry a gun, concealed or open, at any time, at any place, without permit, or tax.

Alternatively, Congress could take no action, with the implication that the President's Executive Orders relating to gun control are the will of the people.

MARTIN LUTHER KING'S BIRTHDAY AND THE PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

We have much more important work to do than to concentrate on birthday and presidential inauguration writings.

Gun Control

Retribution eventually comes.

The German people elected Hitler and the Nazis.
Hitler and the Nazis confiscated German guns.
The German people were unable to resist Nazi atrocities.
The Americans bombed the German people.

Second Amendment Gun Rights

I just heard on Fox news that a Communist says the President supports the Second Amendment.

However, the President is trying to impose limitations on the Second Amendment. Remember that the Second Amendment says that the people's right to bear arms should not be infringed. Also know that infringed means limited or reduced.

Obviously, the Communist is either a distorter of fact or doesn't understand simple English

Raising the National Debt Limit

Obama wants to raise the national debt limit so that the government can pay its bills.

What he means is that he wants to borrow money so that the government can pay bills which are due for payment now. The advantage of this is that in paying bills presently due, such as Social Security payments, unemployment insurance, and Medicare, there will be no immediate default.

However, the disadvantage is that such borrowing is an additional bill, which ultimately has to be repaid. In addition, the amount of repayment (the bill) will be higher because of deficit budgeting and because of required interest on the new debt. In simpler terms, the government will be digging itself deeper into the financial hole in which it is now.

Gun Control

Governments have been known to kill their own people in order to maintain power.

Gun Control

There is much talk in the news about banning assault weapons.

Most of the discussion is based upon whether such a ban is consistent with the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which says, "------, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Let's look at the individual words. The meanings of "right, people, and keep" are obvious.

"Bear" means to carry.

"Arms" is a weapon of offense or defense; especially a firearm.

"Infringe" means to weaken, lessen, or diminish (WIktionary).

Our Government has already infringed our right to bear arms through the restriction of requiring carry permits.

Does that imply that Government has a further right to restrict the type of weapon that one may carry? In other words does one infringement justify another, or does one crime justify another?

Constitution and Bill of Rights

The purpose for establishing the Constitution and Bill of Rights was to protect the people from their government.

If the people are not interested in protecting themselves from their government, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights serve no purpose.
